FIFA is brandishing the threat against any interference by the Cameroonian government. On Monday, Fatma Samoura and Veron Mosengo-Omba signed a very clear letter.

The Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) of FECAFOOT must be held. It is scheduled for this Tuesday 13 July in Yaounde. Cameroon will be suspended by the world football body.

The warning of the two bodies. In his letter, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi asks the Federation to postpone the holding of this EGM. The agenda concerns the adoption of new texts. As arguments, the minister evokes the non-respect of the texts and the spirit of the sentences. The Court of Arbitration for Sport made this decision on 15 January. The Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration of 10 June 2021, induces the illegitimacy of the members convened at this General Assembly. An exit with a direct consequence. So there is the cancellation of the holding of the said EGM, by the sub-prefect of the district of Yaounde 2.

Fatma Samoura and Veron Mosengo-Omba say that the steps taken by FECAFOOT with the support of Fifa are in conformity with the above-mentioned arbitration award. A fully necessary award. Therefore, the reasons put forward by the Minister of Sports in Cameroon in his letter cannot prevent the convened EGM from taking place.

FIFA and CAF invite FECAFOOT to continue its organisational preparations. And they ask the local authorities to support it in this process for the good of football in Cameroon. A suspension of the country could lead to the withdrawal of the organisation of the 2021 African Cup of Nations.

A few minutes after the broadcasting of the correspondence from FIFA, the sub-prefect of the Yaounde 2 district went back on his decision. Mamadi Mahamat finally authorized the holding of the EGM on Tuesday 13 July 2021.
