Following his arrest on Friday, November 12, Nick Mwendwa was held by order for 14 days.

Police demand orders to detain troubled Kenyan Football Association president Nick Mwendwa at Gigiri police station; for 14 days to complete the investigation; after filing a miscellaneous request from the Director of Criminal Investigations.

He was taken to DCI headquarters where he was asked how FKF spent 430 million shillings advanced to FKF from 2016 by Sports, Arts and Social Development to organize football activities. Mwendwa was also toasted on 244 million extended to the federation to prepare Harambee Stars for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The prosecution says Mwendwa is likely to interfere with the investigation by police who have not been ordered to detain him. Mwendwa’s lawyer, Eric Mutua, opposed the request for detention, saying the state has not given compelling reasons for the pre-trial detention.

The Court will rule on the granting of bail to Mwendwa on November 17, 2021.
