Following the suspension of the group draw result, the African Handball Confederation has announced the postponement of the men’s CAN. The competition was scheduled to take place from 13 to 23 January in Morocco.
« Following the appeals registered at the Secretariat of the Confederation of African Handball (CAHB) after the Draw, the Executive Committee, meeting in extraordinary session, this Thursday, December 9, 2021, by videoconference, has taken a measure of postponement of the 25th Africa Cup of Nations Senior Men, beyond the month of January 2022, » said the African body on its website, promising that the Council of the confederation « will proceed to an in-depth examination of the case, during its session scheduled for December 28, 2021, for a diligent follow-up.
The communiqué does not specify the nature of the appeals and their authors. The absence of Algeria is a blow for the competition which will be deprived of one of the tenors of African handball who missed only one tournament of the 24 organized so far, the first in 1974.
