The World Athletics Indoor Tour will provide enhanced competitive opportunities this year with its largest calendar yet, comprising 38 meetings in 14 countries in Europe, North America and Asia.

The expanded tour will expand the geographic distribution of meetings around the world and incorporate additional competitions at the zone level.

Heading into its seventh season, the World Athletics Indoor Tour will feature seven Gold level fixtures in 2022, starting in Karlsruhe on January 28 and culminating in Madrid on March 2.

With 50 days to go before the first Gold level meeting, the athletes already announced include pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis for the INIT Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe and the Müller Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham, with the medalist of Olympic silver in the 800m Keely Hodgkinson who will join him in Birmingham. The Millrose Games will feature Olympic 800m champion Athing Mu, two-time 800m indoor silver medalist Ajee Wilson, Olympic shot put champion Ryan Crouser, world shot put champion Joe Kovacs and American 1500m champions Elle Purrier St Pierre and Cole Hocker.

The outstanding disciplines of the World Athletics Indoor Tour change every year. For 2022, the Gold level scoring disciplines will be:

Women: 400m, 1500m, 60m hurdles, high jump, long jump

Men: 60m, 800m, 3000m / 5000m, pole vault, triple jump, shot put

The athlete with the most points in each scoring discipline at the end of the tour will be declared the winner and receive a bonus of 10,000 USD as well as a wild card entry to the World Indoor Athletics Championships Belgrade 22.

Each Gold Reunion will offer a minimum of $ 7,000 in prize money for each individual discipline in the program, of which $ 3,000 is awarded to the winner.

Expanded Tour Silver meetings will award at least US $ 30,000 (at least $ 4000 per discipline and respecting gender equality) and Bronze meetings will award at least US $ 12,000 (at least $ 2,500 per discipline and respecting gender equality).
