Argentina XV beat Uruguay XV 64-10 in Americas Rugby Championship 2026

Argentina XV defeated suspension-hit Uruguay XV 64-10 in the second round of the 2026 Americas Rugby Championship on Wednesday. The result featured 10 tries from Argentina XV and two from Uruguay XV, giving the winners a second successive victory in the competition.

Argentina XV controlled the match from the opening stages and led 29-0 at half-time. Felipe Villagrán opened the scoring after a cross-kick took a favourable bounce, before Luciano Avaca crossed twice in the next phase of the contest.

Avaca’s first try came after Bautista Estellés created the opening, while Tomás Dande supplied the pass for the winger’s second. Franco Rossetto then added the bonus-point try, and Estellés scored soon afterwards to complete a one-sided first half.

The scoring resumed 13 minutes after the restart, with Dande finishing on the left. Captain Rodrigo Fernández Criado followed by breaking through under the posts. Argentina XV then turned a Uruguay XV error at an attacking lineout into another score, as Dande released Avaca to complete his hat-trick.

Rossetto added his second try before Uruguay XV finally found a response. Replacement hooker Sebastián Pérez scored from a lineout maul, and Manuel Diana powered over for their second try. Alejo Sugasti completed Argentina XV’s tally after replacement prop Diego Correa made the initial break.

The win marked a stronger performance than Argentina XV’s opening-round success against Paraguay, when they won 58-11 after a quieter first half. Their final fixture is against Chile XV. Uruguay XV, who remain at risk of finishing with the wooden spoon, must beat Paraguay in their remaining match to avoid that outcome.
