Argentine FA expresses support for Gianni Infantino

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has formally endorsed FIFA President Gianni Infantino. This support follows a period of pressure for the FIFA chief after a $20 billion proposal to sell World Cup commercial rights failed.

The controversial plan involved the creation of a new entity known as FIFA Forward Enterprise. The proposal faced significant criticism and led to demands for Infantino to resign. FIFA issued an apology on Wednesday for errors made while managing the private investment deal.

AFA President Claudio Tapia praised the governing body for admitting these mistakes. In an open letter to Infantino, Tapia stated that the process should have been handled differently from the start. He noted that the withdrawn proposal created more uncertainty than stability for the football community.

Tapia expressed the backing of the AFA Executive Committee for Infantino's leadership. He credited the Swiss administrator with a profound transformation of the organization over the last decade. The AFA president highlighted that the current administration has focused on global football development and institutional strength.

The Argentine association described the current governance model as transparent and democratic. Tapia noted that the administration has opened the organization to all confederations and member associations. With the next FIFA Congress approaching, the AFA reaffirmed its belief in continuing under Infantino's leadership.
