Australian cricket legends begin three-day workshop at Falcon College

Three Australian cricket legends have arrived at Falcon College to lead a three-day grassroots cricket workshop for fifty young players in Matabeleland.

Falcon College has commenced a three-day cricket workshop hosted by three Australian legends. The camp, which began on Thursday, is scheduled to conclude on Saturday at the Mzingwane-based educational institution.

Organiser Prince Manyika stated that the program is part of Grassroots Australia. The coaching staff includes Trevor Chappell, Peter Buchanan, and Paul Wilson. While John Buchanan has previously visited Zimbabwe and coached Australia to two World Cup titles, he is not participating in this specific tour.

The workshop targets fifty children from various schools, primarily from the Matabeleland South region. The participants include girls and boys aged between 6 and 12 years, as well as teenagers ranging from 13 to 18 years old.

Daily schedules consist of three structured sessions. These sessions focus on foundational training for beginners, skills assessment, and gap analysis. The coaches aim to strengthen cricket development at the grassroots level to prepare participants for future major pathways.

The program also incorporates match play, featuring T10 games for Colts and T20 games for junior players. Additional activities include conditioning, workload management, team dynamics, and fine-tuning for beginners to improve their skill levels.
