Caleb Yirenkyi passes medical ahead of Coventry City transfer

Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi has successfully passed his medical examination in preparation for a move to Coventry City. The 22-year-old is expected to finalize a transfer worth approximately 30 million from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland this weekend.

The deal represents a club record for Coventry City. The move follows recent indications that the Black Stars midfielder was nearing an exit from the Danish Superliga.

Yirenkyi arrives in England following a standout season with FC Nordsjaelland. During the previous campaign, he made 29 appearances and earned individual honors as both the Danish Superliga Young Player of the Year and his club's Player of the Season.

The midfielder also played a significant role for Ghana during the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. He helped the national team reach the round of 32, marking the first time the Black Stars progressed past the group stage since the 2010 tournament.

His international impact included a decisive stoppage-time goal against Panama in the opening match of the tournament. That victory provided the necessary points for Ghana to advance into the knockout stages.
