Celtic prepare new bid for Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis

Celtic are expected to submit a new offer for Torino's Gvidas Gineitis within hours as RB Salzburg also compete for the Lithuanian midfielder.

Celtic are expected to submit a new formal offer for Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis within the next few hours. The Scottish club is looking to improve upon an initial bid of €7.5m made three weeks ago.

Torino CEO Urbano Cairo previously indicated that the Lithuanian international could be sold as the Italian club requires player sales. While the initial gap between Celtic's first offer and Torino's valuation slowed negotiations, the move remains active. Torino currently values the 22-year-old at a figure between €12m and €13m.

The upcoming proposal from the Glasgow side could reach €10m, which is expected to bring both clubs closer to an agreement. Because Gineitis developed within the Torino youth academy, any transfer fee received by the Italian side will be recorded as a capital gain.

Celtic face competition for the midfielder's signature from Austrian side RB Salzburg. Reports indicate that Salzburg have already held discussions regarding the player, though Celtic's interest in the versatile midfielder is also confirmed.

Gineitis is a technical player capable of operating in any midfield position. A move to Scotland would provide the player with opportunities to compete for trophies and participate in European football.
