Cyle Larin completes permanent transfer to Southampton

Southampton striker Cyle Larin has signed a permanent deal with the club following a successful loan spell that included nine goals in 22 appearances.

Southampton has completed the permanent signing of striker Cyle Larin. The Canadian forward becomes the club's second permanent acquisition ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Larin joined the club on loan previously, where he scored nine goals across 22 appearances. Of those matches, he was included in the starting eleven on 12 occasions. The forward noted that scoring with his first touch upon arrival helped him integrate quickly with the squad and staff.

Larin credited manager Tonda Eckert for his decision to remain on the south coast. He stated that the coach provided the trust necessary to play freely within a team structure. The manager's leadership was a factor in the team's 21-game unbeaten run in the Sky Bet Championship.

Speaking on his first interview since the move, Larin said he felt a strong connection with the players and staff. He highlighted that Eckert's ability to unite the group allowed them to maintain high performance levels throughout their successful campaign. The striker expressed confidence that the squad has the talent to compete at the top of the table again.

Larin's permanent move comes as he prepares for a home World Cup. He described Southampton as a large club with Premier League status and expressed his desire to continue contributing to the team's goals and build-up play.
