Cyle Larin included in Canada's final 26-man World Cup squad

Cyle Larin has been selected as part of Canada's final 26-man squad for the upcoming World Cup. The striker joins fellow Southampton player Ross Stewart in the group of players chosen for the tournament held on home soil.

Jesse Marsch will lead the Canadian team as one of the three host nations, alongside the USA and Mexico. Canada is scheduled to play all three of its group stage matches within Canada. The team is placed in Group B and will face Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, June 12, Qatar on Thursday, June 18, and Switzerland on Wednesday, June 24.

Larin arrives at the tournament following a period of strong form. His January loan move to St Mary's helped his season, resulting in eight goals across 16 Championship appearances. Of those 16 matches, Larin was in the starting lineup for nine.

Since making his international debut in 2014, Larin has been a regular fixture for his country. He has recorded 30 goals in 88 caps for Canada. While Ross Stewart's recent call-up to the Scotland squad ended a four-year absence from international football, Larin has maintained his position in the Canadian side.

Canada will be looking to achieve a historic result by progressing beyond the group stage for the first time. The squad will attempt to do so while playing the entirety of their opening phase in front of a home crowd.
