Eddie Hearn questions Tyson Fury's form ahead of Joshua fight

Eddie Hearn has expressed doubts regarding Tyson Fury's current capabilities as the heavyweight prepares for a scheduled November bout against Anthony Joshua in New York. Speaking to iFL TV, the Anthony Joshua promoter suggested that Fury is a diminished version of his former self.

Fury recently secured a victory against Mariusz Wach, stopping him after seven rounds. Hearn noted that Wach has lost eight of his previous 11 matches and characterized the veteran as an opponent used to bolster the records of younger heavyweights. Hearn suggested that Fury's lifestyle may have contributed to a decline in his performance levels.

While Hearn admitted that calling Fury a "shot" fighter might be too strong, he maintained that the boxer is significantly less effective than he used to be. This assessment follows Fury's return to the ring after a period of inactivity following his second loss to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

Fury's recent comeback included a unanimous decision win against Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April. Following that match, Fury requested a summer fight with Joshua, though Joshua insisted on a warm-up bout first. Joshua subsequently secured a second-round stoppage win after surviving a difficult first round against Kristian Prenga.

The upcoming contest between Fury and Joshua is expected to be broadcast on Netflix. This follows Fury's fifth retirement from the sport after his losses to Usyk.
