Former Eredivisie player praises Ajax newcomer Arokodare
Ex-Eredivisie star Jansen describes Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare as a beast following his impressive debut for Ajax in a preseason friendly.
Former Eredivisie player Jansen has lauded new Ajax signing Tolu Arokodare, describing the Nigerian international as a beast. The comments follow Arokodare's successful debut for the club during a 3-1 preseason friendly victory over FC Volendam.
Arokodare arrived at Ajax on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The agreement between the two clubs includes a provision that allows Ajax to make the move permanent once the current season concludes.
Speaking on the ESPN program Voetbalpraat, Jansen compared the new striker to teammate Marcos Leonardo. The former FC Zwolle and NAC Breda player suggested that Arokodare looked more convincing on the pitch than Leonardo, who has struggled to meet expectations since joining the team.
Jansen noted that the striker's actual performance exceeded the prior reputation surrounding him. He stated that while many had already called Arokodare a beast, his display on the field was even better than those previous descriptions suggested.
Arokodare scored a goal during his first appearance for the Dutch side. He will now prepare for his next fixture as Ajax hosts Shelbourne in a UEFA Conference League qualifying match at the Johan Cruijff Arena.
