GFA trains match commissioners ahead of 2026/27 Ghana Premier League

The Ghana Football Association held a one-day seminar for match commissioners on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, as preparations continued for the 2026/27 campaign. The Ghana Premier League is scheduled to begin on Friday, 5 September, with Vision FC meeting Young Apostles in the opening match.

The programme took place at the GFA headquarters and brought together officials responsible for helping fixtures run properly. General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo led the discussions, which covered matchday administration, safety, security and the standards required during the season.

The seminar also addressed the organisation of technical meetings before matches. These meetings bring the relevant stakeholders together to coordinate arrangements ahead of kick-off, making them an important part of the commissioners’ responsibilities.

Francis Adu Essah, the GFA’s Deputy General Secretary and Director of IT, guided participants through the use and administration of the Competition Management System. Integrity Officer Obed Tuffuor handled integrity matters, while Julius Ben Emunah, CAF Safety and Security Officer and Managing Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, led the session on safety and security at league centres.

Club Licensing and match reporting were included in the wider discussions. The GFA stressed that reports must be accurate, detailed and submitted promptly because they support decisions and the broader administration of competitions.

Match Commissioners are expected to apply the guidance across the 2026/27 season. Their work covers more than the supervision of individual fixtures, extending to the coordination, documentation and standards that underpin the running of Ghanaian football competitions.
