Anokye backs Ampem Darkoa to beat Dynamique in CAF qualifier
Ampem Darkoa coach Charles Anokye is confident his unbeaten side can defeat FC Dynamique and reach the final of the WAFU B qualifiers.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies coach Charles Anokye believes his team can overcome FC Dynamique in Friday’s semi-final of the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers after winning all three of their Group B matches. Their latest result was a 2-1 victory over Nigeria’s Edo Queens on Sunday, completing a perfect group-stage campaign.
The Ghanaian champions finished first in Group B and now face a knockout tie that could take them into the final of the regional qualifying competition. Progress against Dynamique would also move Ampem Darkoa closer to a place in the Women’s Champions League main tournament.
Ampem Darkoa had to recover from conceding first against Edo Queens. Their response secured the win and maintained their 100 per cent record in the qualifiers, giving Anokye’s side further evidence of their ability to handle difficult moments.
Anokye’s approach has been to treat each match separately while accepting the need to overcome the strongest teams in the competition. He believes success at this stage depends on preparation rather than focusing on the reputation of the opposition.
The coaching staff have used data analysis and close observation of opponents to shape their plans. That work has included identifying the players best suited to each match and organising a strategy designed to carry out Ampem Darkoa’s game plan effectively.
Dynamique will be the next test of that preparation on Friday. Ampem Darkoa enter the semi-final as Group B winners with three victories behind them, while a fourth win would put the Ghanaian champions into the final and leave them within reach of the main tournament.
