Karisa says Vipers ready for pressure in 2026/27 Uganda Premier League

Vipers finished first in the 2025 Uganda Premier League with 67 points from 30 matches. Their record was 19 wins, 10 draws and one defeat, with 55 goals scored and 17 conceded.

Captain Milton Karisa says that record and the expectations around Vipers will not unsettle the team as the 2026/27 campaign begins. The Uganda Cranes winger believes the squad has the preparation and unity needed to start with a victory.

Vipers will face Entebbe UPPC on August 28, 2026, at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. The fixture is the Kitende club’s opening match of the new league season, with Karisa making clear that the immediate objective is to take all three points.

Karisa said the players have trained well under the coaching staff and developed a strong understanding during their recent matches. He also placed responsibility on the squad to turn that work into a performance when the competitive fixtures begin.

The pressure is familiar at Vipers, where the captain expects the team to compete for major honours. Karisa’s view is that the demands attached to the club should sharpen the players rather than distract them, provided they maintain their professional approach.

Vipers’ latest results support the confidence around the squad. They defeated Gor Mahia 1-0, Al-haras Al-jumhuri 3-0, Express 2-0 and Maroons 3-0 before drawing 0-0 away to Police. The run leaves them unbeaten in those five matches ahead of their meeting with Entebbe UPPC.
