Bruno Guimarães targets Arsenal trophies with room for more tattoos

Arsenal midfielder Bruno Guimarães wants Premier League and Champions League success after joining from Newcastle in a £75 million move.

Bruno Guimarães says he has plenty of room on his body for more trophy tattoos after joining Arsenal in a £75 million move from Newcastle United. The midfielder has taken the No 39 shirt and missed Arsenal’s opening Premier League win over Coventry with a groin issue.

Guimarães already has the Carabao Cup represented among his tattoos, but he wants to add more honours during his time at Arsenal. He identified the Premier League and Champions League as the prizes that would mean the most to him, while also including the FA Cup and another Carabao Cup among his ambitions.

The Brazil midfielder described himself as highly competitive and said every available trophy mattered. His comments reflect the expectations attached to his move to Arsenal, where he is pursuing silverware after leaving Newcastle.

Guimarães joked that any new tattoos would probably go on his legs because there is still significant space available. The existing Carabao Cup marking provides a personal record of an earlier success, while the hoped-for additions would represent achievements with his new club.

His choice of shirt number also carries a family connection. No 39 was the number displayed on his father’s taxi in Rio de Janeiro, and Guimarães said wearing it reminds him of his parents and the journey made by his family.

He credited both parents with encouraging him not to abandon football when he faced setbacks as a child, including the first rejection of his career. Guimarães said those experiences shaped his self-image as a warrior and strengthened his determination to keep believing through difficult periods.

Arsenal began their Premier League campaign with victory against Coventry, although Guimarães was unavailable because of the groin problem. His stated targets now extend beyond his personal tattoo collection, with league and European success at the centre of his ambitions in north London.
