Golden Eaglets to learn WAFU B U-17 Championship opponents Thursday
Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets will discover their 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship group opponents at Thursday’s draw in Ouagadougou.
Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets will discover their group-stage opponents for the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship on Thursday, when the tournament draw is held in Ouagadougou. The ceremony is scheduled for the Stade du 04 Août in Burkina Faso’s capital.
The draw will determine Nigeria’s route through the regional youth championship, which is scheduled to take place in Burkina Faso from October 4 to 17, 2026. The competition will also function as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
The Golden Eaglets are continuing their preparations in Abuja under coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere. The squad played two friendly matches last weekend, facing Simonben Academy of Kaduna and Galadima FC as part of its build-up programme.
The same venue will also host the draw for the second edition of the WAFU B U-17 Girls’ Cup. Nigeria is one of seven countries listed for that competition, alongside Benin, Togo, Ghana, hosts Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire and Niger.
Thursday’s ceremony will therefore set the early structure for both regional under-17 competitions. For Nigeria’s boys’ team, attention will centre on the group assignment and the opponents standing between the Golden Eaglets and a place in the qualification pathway for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
