Hysa-Narmo 38-0 heavyweight clash set for WBA and WBO Global belts

Nelson Hysa and Thomas Narmo will put unbeaten records totalling 38-0 on the line when they meet at The O2 on August 29. The heavyweight contest will decide the WBA and WBO Global titles on the Moses Itauma-Filip Hrgovic card.

Albania’s Hysa enters the bout with 24 victories and 22 knockouts. Norway’s Narmo has won all 14 of his professional fights by stoppage, giving the contest a combined knockout record of 36 from 38 wins.

The two belts offer both fighters a chance to move closer to the wider heavyweight picture, although neither is a world championship. The WBO Global title is classified as a regional belt rather than a world title.

Hysa has presented the fight as an important occasion for his family and Albania. He plans to represent the country’s red-and-black flag and has called on Albanians living across the United Kingdom to attend the London event with flags and support.

Narmo’s opportunity follows a period of trying to secure a major heavyweight appearance. Earlier this year, he put himself forward as a possible opponent for Tyson Fury before Fury instead boxed Mariusz Wach. Warren’s son later made contact with the unbeaten Norwegian, while other possible fights also failed to materialise.

The bout now gives Narmo the significant opportunity he had been seeking, while Hysa arrives with the stronger professional record and a substantial knockout tally. Both will fight for regional recognition on a card centred on Itauma’s meeting with Hrgovic and the next stage of the young heavyweight’s rise.
