Kelvin Yeboah scores twice as Minnesota United beat San Jose 5-1 in MLS

Kelvin Yeboah scored twice as Minnesota United defeated San Jose Earthquakes 5-1 at PayPal Park in Major League Soccer. The Italian-Ghanaian forward struck twice before half-time, turning an early deficit into a three-goal advantage for the visitors.

San Jose made the stronger opening and went ahead in the fourth minute. Timo Werner converted from the penalty spot to give the Earthquakes an early lead, but Minnesota responded six minutes later through Joaquín Pereyra.

Pereyra finished after receiving assistance from Anthony Markanich, bringing Minnesota level in the 10th minute. The equaliser changed the direction of the match and gave Yeboah the opportunity to take control of the contest before the break.

Yeboah put Minnesota in front in the 40th minute, converting a pass from Kervin Arriaga. He added his second goal four minutes later, with Owen Gene providing the opportunity. The brace sent Minnesota into half-time with a 3-1 lead and left San Jose needing three goals to draw level.

Minnesota maintained its advantage after the interval and added two more goals. Marcus Caldeira made it 4-1 in the 65th minute, before Mauricio González completed the scoring in the 86th minute after receiving a pass from Pereyra.

Yeboah was taken off in the 83rd minute after producing the decisive attacking contribution. His two goals had already given Minnesota the lead, while the late strikes from Caldeira and González confirmed a 5-1 away victory.
