Kristian Prenga assesses Anthony Joshua's power after KO loss

Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga has commented on the punching power of Anthony Joshua following his first career knockdown in Jeddah.

Kristian Prenga has commented on the punching power of Anthony Joshua following his knockout defeat in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Albanian heavyweight experienced his first knockdown in his professional career during the heavyweight contest held last month.

Prenga noted that the impact of Joshua's right hand was significant. He stated that it was the first time he had ever been knocked down in his life, adding that he had never even been floored during sparring sessions. He confirmed that Joshua possesses genuine power.

The fight began with Prenga scoring a right uppercut knockdown within the first 20 seconds. He managed to secure a second knockdown in the same opening round, which left the 36-year-old Joshua in a vulnerable position. However, Joshua recovered and stopped Prenga three minutes later.

Prior to this bout, the 35-year-old Prenga held a record of 20-1. While he maintained a 100% knockout-to-win ratio, his previous victories had not been at the level of Joshua. His most significant win came in 2024 against Joey Dawejko, a match that ended via stoppage only after Dawejko suffered a shoulder injury.

Joshua's victory keeps him moving toward a potential fight against Tyson Fury later this year. For Prenga, the performance in Jeddah has increased his profile despite the loss. He will likely face more serious opposition in his upcoming professional outings.
