Las Palmas sign Ghana defender Nicolas Opoku on two-year deal

UD Las Palmas have confirmed the signing of Ghana international Nicolas Opoku. The central defender has joined the Canary Islands club on a contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2028.

Opoku arrives in Spain following the conclusion of his contract with the Turkish side Kasimpasa. The defender is expected to provide stability and leadership to the Las Palmas defensive line as the club prepares for the 2026/27 campaign.

The Ghanaian international has a professional history that began in Ghana with Berekum Chelsea. He later moved to Tunisia to play for Club Africain, where he secured a Tunisian Cup title during the 2017/18 season. His performances in Africa led to a move to the Italian Serie A side Udinese in 2018.

Following his time in Italy, Opoku played in France with Amiens SC, competing in both Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. He most recently played in the Turkish Super Lig for Kasimpasa before making this move to Spain.

Known for his physical presence and tackling, Opoku has also represented the Ghana national team at the senior level. His arrival is part of a wider effort by Las Palmas to reshape their squad for the upcoming season.
