Malik Pimpong debuts for Eintracht Frankfurt and scores for U21s

Malik Pimpong made his Eintracht Frankfurt debut in the DFB-Pokal and then scored for the club’s U21 side as his German move began brightly.

Malik Pimpong has made his official Eintracht Frankfurt debut and followed it with a goal for the club’s U21 side. The 18-year-old striker played for 20 minutes in Frankfurt’s emphatic DFB-Pokal victory over St. Tönis on Friday before finding the net for the reserve team.

The two appearances mark a quick start to Pimpong’s career in Germany after his move from Danish champions FC Midtjylland. Frankfurt signed him this summer on a contract running through June 2031, giving the teenager a long-term opportunity at the Bundesliga club.

Pimpong arrives with a strong record from Midtjylland’s academy. He scored 30 goals and supplied one assist in 46 appearances across the last two seasons. During the 2025/26 campaign, he produced 20 goals in 26 matches and finished as the leading scorer in the Danish U19 Drenge Ligaen.

His development also included seven UEFA Youth League appearances and two selections in Midtjylland’s Europa League squad. Those experiences preceded his first senior involvement for Frankfurt, where he has now made an appearance in the DFB-Pokal before scoring at U21 level.

Born in Denmark to former Ghana forward Razak Pimpong, Malik remains eligible to play for Ghana. He has represented Denmark at under-17, under-18 and under-19 level, making 24 youth appearances and scoring 12 goals, but he could still change his international allegiance at senior level.

Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung has called for patience as the young striker adjusts to his new surroundings. The club’s approach is to develop him gradually, provide targeted support and give him stability while he works towards the level required at Frankfurt.
