Medeama SC will face DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League. The draw for the tournament was conducted on Thursday at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters located in Cairo.
The Tarkwa-based side faces a difficult opening tie against one of the most experienced clubs on the continent. Medeama will host the first leg of this two-legged encounter at the TNA Stadium. The return leg will take place in Kinshasa, where the Ghanaian champions must secure their progression to the next stage.
The first preliminary round fixtures are scheduled to be played between September 4 and September 6. The return matches for this round are set to take place from September 11 to September 13.
Should Medeama successfully navigate their tie against TP Mazembe, they will advance to the second preliminary round. In that stage, they would be matched against the winner of the fixture between Club Africain of Tunisia and Djoliba AC of Mali. The second preliminary round matches are scheduled for September 14-16, with the return legs occurring between September 23 and September 25.
Medeama secured their qualification for this competition by winning the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title. The club is looking to build on its previous continental involvement as it pursues a place in the group stage of Africa's premier club competition.
