Musokoto face Vihiga Cranes in Safaricom Chapa Dimba finals

Musokoto Secondary School advanced to the Safaricom Chapa Dimba Western Region boys’ final with a 3-0 victory over Kakamega’s Green Buffaloes. Vihiga Cranes joined them after defeating Bungoma side Terem 1-0, setting up Sunday’s decider at Masinde Muliro Stadium in Kanduyi, Bungoma.

The girls’ final will be contested by Lugari Progressive and Chakol Queens. Lugari earned its place with a 4-0 win against Elgon Queens of Bungoma, while Chakol defeated Vihiga’s Blue Commandos 3-1 in the other semi-final.

Musokoto took control of its semi-final early when Galvin Mukolwe converted a second-minute penalty after a handball decision against Peter Franklin Pual. Frankline Paul added a second in the 52nd minute, and Tom Okitwi completed the scoring 13 minutes from time. Green Buffaloes missed a penalty through Oliver Osinya as their comeback attempt failed.

Vihiga Cranes secured their final berth through Mellon Omondi’s goal against Terem. The result gives Musokoto a chance to win the regional title in its first appearance in the final, while Vihiga Cranes will attempt to prevent the Busia County team from taking the trophy home.

Chakol Queens reached the girls’ final after Michel Nasimiyu scored twice against Blue Commandos. Hanifa Mashasha also found the net for the Busia side, with Mitchel Chepteek scoring Blue Commandos’ only goal. The result marks progress for Chakol, who were eliminated in last season’s semi-finals, and gives them an opportunity to claim their first title.

The two regional champions will represent Western at the national finals. Each winning team will receive Sh250,000, while the runners-up will collect Sh150,000. Individual awards for the best goalkeepers, top scorers and Most Valuable Player carry Sh30,000, with the Golden Ball winner also receiving a fully funded tertiary education scholarship through the Safaricom Citizens of the Future Programme.
