Barbra Banda leads WAFCON goalscoring charts ahead of semi-finals

Zambia's Barbra Banda remains the top scorer at the WAFCON tournament with five goals, despite her team failing to reach the semi-final stage.

Zambia striker Barbra Banda is the leading goalscorer at the ongoing CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The 26-year-old has recorded five goals during the tournament so far.

Banda holds a one-goal advantage over Ivory Coast’s Inès Konan, who follows her in the scoring rankings. While Banda sits at the top of the list, she will not be involved in the tournament's semi-final stage. Her national team, the Copper Queens, failed to qualify from the group stage of the competition.

The tournament moves into the semi-final phase on Wednesday. The first fixture of the evening will see Algeria face Malawi. In the second semi-final match, Morocco will take on Cameroon to determine who progresses further in the competition.

Banda's individual performance remains a significant statistical highlight of the WAFCON 2026 campaign. Despite her absence from the knockout rounds, her five goals place her ahead of all other players in the competition. The top ten goalscorers have been established as the teams prepare for these final matches.

As the semi-finals approach, the focus shifts to the remaining contenders. Algeria, Malawi, Morocco, and Cameroon will compete for a place in the final, while the individual race for the Golden Boot continues among the active players in the knockout stages.
