Salisu Yusuf appointed as Shooting Stars technical adviser

Shooting Stars have officially appointed Salisu Yusuf as their new technical adviser. The club confirmed the news following the recent departure of Nurudeen Aweroro.

Yusuf brings over twenty years of coaching experience to the Oluyole Warriors. His managerial career began in 2002 with Nasarawa United. Since then, the 64-year-old has held positions at several prominent Nigerian clubs, including Enyimba, Rangers International, and Kano Pillars. His most recent role was with Coton Sport in Benin.

The new technical adviser also has an extensive international profile. He previously served as an assistant coach for the Super Eagles and has managed both the Nigeria U-23 side and the Super Eagles B team. A significant highlight of his career occurred in 2018, when he led the home-based Super Eagles to the CHAN final, where they finished as runners-up to Morocco.

This appointment comes as Shooting Stars prepare for continental football. The Ibadan-based side finished third in the NPFL last season, earning a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup. Their campaign in the competition begins with a first preliminary round fixture against Tunisian side CS Sfaxien.
