Nations FC coach Logaršić says squad building continues

Nations FC head coach Zdravko Logaršić says the club is still undergoing significant changes as he prepares the team for the Division One League and the CAF Confederation Cup. The Abrankese-based side is currently refining its roster ahead of a demanding season.

Logaršić, the former Asante Kotoko coach, was appointed before the 2026/27 season following the club's relegation from the Ghana Premier League. Despite their drop to the second tier, Nations FC earned a place in continental football after defeating Dreams FC to win the FA Cup.

The Croatian manager has been working to reduce a large pre-season group. He noted that the squad initially consisted of 40 to 50 players, but recent cuts have brought the numbers down to 22 players and four goalkeepers. He expects to add one or two more players to the group.

Logaršić expressed that adapting to a new environment and assessing players he has not worked with before is a difficult process. He stated that the team is adapting step by step and requires more time for proper observation to identify necessary improvements.

Time is a factor as the CAF Confederation Cup campaign is approaching quickly. The coach explained that because several new players arrived only a few days ago, it is difficult to determine the exact level of fitness or quality within the current squad.

Nations FC will start their continental journey in the first preliminary round against FC Diarra of Mali. The first leg will take place in Bamako, with the return leg scheduled for September in Ghana. If they progress, they will meet the winner of the tie between AS Zam of Niger and ASKO de Kara of Burkina Faso.
