Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame announces five inaugural special awards

The Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame (NVBHOF) has announced the creation of five inaugural special awards. These honors are designed to recognize the officials, families, innovators, and industry leaders whose work supports the sport beyond championship fights.

The awards will be presented during the 14th Annual NVBHOF Induction Gala, scheduled for August 14 and 15, 2026, at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. This event will coincide with the induction of the 2025 and 2026 classes. These recognitions will become an annual tradition moving forward.

The Marc Ratner Award, named after the former Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director, honors excellence in leadership, regulation, and officiating. The first recipient is Dave Moretti, a Nevada Athletic Commission judge recognized for his 50-year career officiating championship bouts.

The Yo Adrian Award celebrates commitment to family and community. Martha Vargas, a prominent figure in a respected boxing family, is the inaugural recipient for her decades of leadership and support for athletes. The Pillar of Excellence Award, named for fitness trainer Larry Wade, honors professionals in sports preparation. Wade is the first recipient, noted for his work with athletes such as Shawn Porter, Caleb Plant, Badou Jack, Luis Ortiz, Jake Paul, Rolando Romero, and Shane Mosley Jr.

Two other honors focus on service and innovation. The "Uncle Bill" Award, named for publicist Bill Caplan, recognizes lifelong service and professionalism. Finally, the Trailblazer Award honors those who expand opportunities through innovation. Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) is the first recipient, recognized for its role in advancing women's boxing by producing major championship events and securing record purses for female athletes.

Founded in 2013, the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame works to preserve the history of the sport by honoring athletes, promoters, journalists, and other industry contributors.
