Nigeria draw Ghana in second round of 2026 Beach Soccer AFCON

Nigeria will face Ghana in the second round of the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The opening legs are scheduled for 9–11 October 2026, with the return fixtures set for 16–18 October.

The draw gives Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles a West African opponent as they seek a place at the finals in Senegal. The 2026 Beach Soccer AFCON will also serve as Africa’s qualifying competition for the 2027 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

The two finalists at the continental tournament will earn qualification for the 2027 World Cup. That route offers Nigeria an opportunity to return to the global competition after missing the last three editions in 2021, 2024 and 2025.

Senegal will host the Beach Soccer AFCON for the second time, having previously staged the competition in 2021. The hosts are the record five-time champions and have won each of the last five editions, including the 2024 tournament in Egypt.

Nigeria are among the most successful teams in the competition’s history, with two titles. Cameroon won the inaugural edition in 2006 in Durban, South Africa, beating Nigeria 5-3 in the final, while Madagascar claimed the championship in 2015.

The Super Sand Eagles appeared at the first Beach Soccer World Cup in 2006 and have reached the global tournament six times, also qualifying in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2017 and 2019. Their strongest campaigns ended in quarter-final appearances in 2007 and 2011.
