St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde defeated St Michael Ssonde 58-45 to secure a place in the 2026 FEASSA Games boys’ basketball semifinals.
St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde secured a place in the 2026 FEASSA Games boys’ basketball semifinals after defeating St Michael High School Ssonde 58-45 in the Ugandan derby in Morogoro, Tanzania. The 13-point victory gave Kyabakadde a third consecutive win at the 23rd edition of the championships.
The result guarantees St Cyprian a semifinal place on Friday, regardless of the outcome of their final group match against Rwanda’s ITS Kigali. The Ugandan school was scheduled to complete that group-stage fixture on Wednesday.
St Cyprian built an early advantage by taking the opening quarter 12-7. St Michael responded in the second period, winning it 14-11, but Kyabakadde still held a narrow two-point lead at half-time.
The decisive spell came after the interval. St Cyprian controlled the third quarter 18-8, creating the separation that St Michael could not recover. Both teams scored 17 points in the final quarter, leaving Kyabakadde with the 58-45 victory.
Choul Thon, Joseph Ngaya, George Agandi, captain Chut Agok and Sijin Makeng were among the players who stood out for St Cyprian. Agok said the team was pleased to have reached the semifinals and would work to maintain its performance.
Kyabakadde is one of two Ugandan schools already assured of a place in the last four. Amus College School has also secured a semifinal berth at the FEASSA Games, which bring together schools competing in the regional championships.
