Orlando Pirates confirm Tito Maswanganyi departure to Bahrain

Orlando Pirates have confirmed Tito Maswanganyi’s departure to Bahrain. The club are top of the 2026 South African Premier Soccer League table with seven points from three matches, having won two and drawn one.

Pirates have scored six goals and conceded one in their league campaign. Their unbeaten start keeps them above the rest of the table after the opening three fixtures, although Maswanganyi will now leave the squad as the season continues.

The departure comes after a mixed sequence of results for Pirates outside their league programme. They began that run with a 1-0 defeat by Al Suqoor, before beating Las Palmas 1-0.

Further losses followed against Al-Ittihad FC and Cadiz, with Pirates beaten 3-2 and 2-1 respectively. Their most recent result in that sequence was a 1-1 draw with Cordoba.

Those five matches produced one win, one draw and three defeats, contrasting with the club’s unbeaten league record. The available results show Pirates have made a stronger start in the PSL than in their recent other fixtures.

Pirates’ next scheduled match is against Sekhukhune United on 25 August 2026 in the South African Premier Soccer League. The fixture will be their next listed league test after the confirmation of Maswanganyi’s move to Bahrain.
