Peter Fury reacts to Joshua vs Tyson Fury New York fight plans

Peter Fury has addressed the news that Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are expected to face each other in the United States. The heavyweight bout is slated for November, with Madison Square Garden in New York identified as the probable venue.

Speaking to IFL TV, Peter Fury noted that while hosting the fight in Britain would have been preferable, the location is determined by the promoters. He argued that the financial decisions of the promoters dictate the setting. He maintained that the physical environment will not impact the outcome, stating that a ring remains a square regardless of the location.

Both heavyweights recently completed warm-up matches to prepare for the November encounter. Tyson Fury faced 46-year-old Mariusz Wach, managing to control seven rounds with very little activity. Anthony Joshua had a more difficult start to his preparation against Kristian Prenga. Joshua was knocked down twice during the first round against Prenga, though he eventually secured a stoppage victory after Prenga allowed him space in the subsequent three minutes.

Madison Square Garden holds different histories for both men. Joshua has not competed at the arena since his 2019 loss to Andy Ruiz Jr, which ended in a seventh-round stoppage. Tyson Fury previously fought at the venue's smaller room, the Theatre, in 2013 when he defeated Steve Cunningham by stoppage after being knocked down.

The move to New York has generated significant discussion within British boxing. However, Peter Fury believes the neutral ground of the ring ensures both athletes possess an equal opportunity to win the fight.
