Rahim Ibrahim scores as Slovan beat Kosice 2-1 in Slovak Liga
Ghana midfielder Rahim Ibrahim scored his second league goal of the season as Slovan Bratislava defeated FC Kosice 2-1.
Rahim Ibrahim scored his second league goal of the 2026/27 Slovak Liga campaign as Slovan Bratislava defeated FC Kosice 2-1 in the fifth round. The Ghanaian midfielder’s finish came in the 25th minute and helped Slovan return to the top of the table.
Slovan had already taken the lead through Svetozar Markovic, who opened the scoring after nine minutes. Ibrahim then extended the advantage following a dangerous corner that led to a scramble inside the Kosice penalty area.
Gajdos’ header created the initial threat, while Griger, Ibrahim and Wimmer competed to force the ball across the line. Kosice’s defence cleared the first effort, but Ibrahim reached the loose ball before the other players and struck it firmly beneath the crossbar. Goalkeeper Kira was unable to stop the shot.
Kosice reduced the deficit through Liche in the 57th minute, creating a tense second half for Slovan. The Bratislava side preserved its advantage, however, to collect all three points and maintain its strong start to the season.
Slovan now have 12 points from five league matches and sit first with a 14:1 goal difference. Ibrahim’s latest goal adds to his growing contribution for the Slovak champions, who are competing in domestic football as well as Europe.
The midfielder was taken off later in the second half as head coach Yaya Touré made several changes while Slovan sought to protect its lead. The team’s next assignment is the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off tie away to Celje on Wednesday.
