Real Madrid sign Yan Diomande for record-breaking fee
Real Madrid have completed the signing of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig on a seven-year contract, making him the club's most expensive player ever.
Real Madrid have officially completed the transfer of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. The deal could reach a total of €140 million, which would make the Ivorian winger the most expensive signing in the history of the club.
If all performance-related add-ons are met, the transfer will exceed the €103 million paid for Jude Bellingham in 2023 and the €80 million spent on Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009. While the club has not released the exact financial terms, the initial fee is reported to be €125 million, with an additional €10 million to €15 million possible through bonuses.
The 19-year-old has committed to a seven-year contract at the Santiago Bernabéu, which runs until June 2033. Diomande arrives in Spain following a season with RB Leipzig where he recorded 12 Bundesliga goals and nine assists, helping the German side finish third and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
This recruitment follows a difficult 2025/26 campaign for Real Madrid, during which they finished as La Liga runners-up to Barcelona and were eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals. The club has since appointed Jose Mourinho for his second managerial spell and has added Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté, and Denzel Dumfries to the squad.
Diomande, who featured for Ivory Coast at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is expected to be a central part of Mourinho's tactical setup as the club attempts to win domestic and European titles next season.
