Sakala scores as Al-Fayha draw 2-2 with Al-Kholood in Saudi Pro League
Zambia captain Fashion Sakala scored his first goal of the season, but Al-Fayha conceded late to draw 2-2 with Al-Kholood.
Al-Fayha and Al-Kholood shared a 2-2 draw in the Saudi Pro League. The result leaves Al-Fayha 10th with five points, while Al-Kholood move up to fourth on nine points.
Al-Fayha went ahead in the fifth minute through Hugo Moura. His long-range attempt hit the crossbar and bounced over the goal line before returning to the field, with the goal confirmed by the technology in use by the referee.
Al-Kholood levelled nine minutes later after Iker Kortajarena intercepted a misplaced pass in the Al-Fayha defence and finished calmly. Sakala threatened before the interval, seeing one attempt blocked and sending another wide as the hosts searched for a second goal.
The Zambia captain restored Al-Fayha’s lead in the 57th minute. Sakala collected the ball on the left, carried it forward and moved inside to open a shooting angle before driving a low effort beyond goalkeeper Hamed Al Shanqiti. It was his first goal of the campaign and capped a strong individual display.
Al-Fayha remained close to adding a third late in the match. Sakala helped create another opening in the 87th minute, but Mohammed Al Dowaish’s shot was stopped by Al Shanqiti.
The hosts were unable to hold on for victory. With two minutes of regular time left, Mansour Camara delivered for Julien Domingues, who headed past the goalkeeper to make it 2-2 and secure a point for Al-Kholood. Sakala’s personal milestone therefore came with Al-Fayha still settling for a draw.
