Salah leads Africa’s top five Premier League scorers with 193

Mohamed Salah leads the list of Africa’s highest Premier League scorers with 193 goals in 328 appearances. Sadio Mane is second on 111 goals, while Didier Drogba follows with 104 in 254 matches.

Emmanuel Adebayor ranks fourth with 97 goals from 241 appearances for Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham. Riyad Mahrez completes the top five, although his total is not given in the available figures.

Salah’s scoring record also places him fourth overall in Premier League history, behind Alan Shearer’s 260 goals, Harry Kane’s 213 and Wayne Rooney’s 208. His four Golden Boots are level with Thierry Henry’s total, with his most recent award coming in 2024-25 after scoring 29 league goals for champions Liverpool.

The Egyptian has also collected the players’ player of the year award three times, more than any other player. He scored 10 goals on Premier League opening weekends, the highest total in the competition, and was due to miss Liverpool’s meeting with Newcastle on 23 August after leaving the club for Trabzonspor on a free transfer at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Mane’s 111 goals came across 263 appearances, and his Premier League title arrived with Liverpool in 2019-20. Drogba’s 104 goals were scored during two spells at Chelsea. The Ivorian won four league titles and claimed the Golden Boot in 2006-07 and 2009-10.

Mahrez has the strongest title record among the five, with five championships: one with Leicester City in 2015-16 and four with Manchester City. He scored 17 goals and supplied 11 assists in 33 league matches during Leicester’s title-winning campaign, then became the first African to win the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

Adebayor is the only member of the group without a Premier League title. He was contracted to Manchester City during the 2011-12 season but spent that campaign on loan at Tottenham, while City secured their first league championship in 44 years. The list therefore separates individual scoring from team success, with Salah clearly ahead on goals and Mahrez leading on medals.
