Shakur Stevenson identifies Floyd Mayweather as ideal opponent

Shakur Stevenson has identified Floyd Mayweather as the one boxer he would have most liked to face during his career. Speaking on the Ball In The Family Podcast, Stevenson stated there was no doubt regarding his choice.

Stevenson explained that his interest in Mayweather stems from the former champion's intelligence in the ring. He noted that he would have wanted to see if his own high boxing IQ could compete with Mayweather's ability to out-think opponents.

Mayweather retired from professional boxing with an undefeated record of 50-0. His career included world titles in five different weight divisions and notable wins against Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez. His fight against Manny Pacquiao set significant records for pay-per-view buys and gate receipts.

Stevenson is currently a four-weight world champion. He secured the WBO super-lightweight title in January after a unanimous decision victory over Teofimo Lopez. While he has been connected to potential matchups against O’Shaquie Foster and Devin Haney, no official fight has been scheduled.

Regarding Mayweather, a planned rematch with Manny Pacquiao for September was postponed. That contest is now expected to take place in early 2027.
