Sharks make major changes for Currie Cup clash with Griquas

Mike Vowles has rotated his Sharks squad for the Griquas match following the team's involvement in a midweek fixture against the All Blacks.

The Sharks have implemented extensive changes to their starting lineup ahead of their Currie Cup fixture against Griquas in Kimberley. Coach Mike Vowles confirmed the rotation follows the team's participation in a match against the All Blacks on Tuesday night.

Significant shifts have occurred within the forward pack. Meno Barnard and Tino Mavesere are the only forwards to retain their starting positions from the previous victory over the Boland Cavaliers. Barnard moves from number four to number five lock to partner Johan Momsen in the second row. The new front row consists of Jaco du Toit, Liam van Wyk, and Lee-Marvin Mazibuko.

In the back row, Wasi Vyambwera and Hanu Pieterse have been introduced to the starting XV. This move sees Mavesere shift from number eight to openside flank. These adjustments follow injuries to Thomas Dyer, who is dealing with a rib issue, and Kerron van Vuuren, who is unavailable. Danio Botha also enters the squad to replace Willem van den Hever following an HIA.

The backline features only one change, with Albie Bester making his first start of the Currie Cup season at inside centre. He replaces Janco Purchase, who moves to the bench. Rambo Kubheka and Simphiwe Ngobese, both of whom featured in the midweek match against the All Blacks, also move to the substitute roles.

The Sharks currently occupy seventh place on the Currie Cup log. They have recorded two wins and two losses from their four matches played so far this season.
