Southampton FC Football Programmes announce Ryde School partnership

Southampton FC’s Football Programmes department has entered into a new partnership with Ryde School. The collaboration aims to improve the school's sporting provision and create a clearer pathway for football development on the Isle of Wight.

Under the agreement, Southampton FC will integrate its specific coaching methodology into the school's existing football curriculum. The partnership focuses on delivering a sustainable Football Development Programme designed for both students and staff, following the club's established player development philosophy.

School staff will receive ongoing support through coach education opportunities. Students will also gain access to Southampton FC facilities, which includes scheduled visits to St Mary’s Stadium and the Staplewood Campus. Beyond on-pitch training, the initiative will provide information regarding professional career paths within the football industry.

Tom Grevatt, the Head of Football Programmes at Southampton FC, stated that the partnership brings the "Southampton Way" into the school environment. He noted that the goal is to improve player development and the local football culture, while also benefiting the wider Isle of Wight community.

Ryde School intends to use the partnership to raise the professional and competitive standard of its football offerings. As part of this progression, the school is introducing additional sports scholarships, including for football, starting in September for the next academic year. These scholarships will include both full and flexi boarding options for families.

This collaboration combines the club's expertise in youth player development with the school's academic and physical education values. The project seeks to create a progressive environment for the next generation of players within the school and the surrounding area.
