Southampton U18s beat Birmingham City 3-0 on final day

Southampton Under-18s concluded their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 win against Birmingham City at Staplewood. Jude Daniels scored two goals and Lewis Day added a header to secure the victory for Andrew Surman's side.

The result ensured that Southampton finished the season in seventh place. The win also extended their unbeaten run to five matches to end the campaign.

Birmingham City nearly opened the scoring when Connor Reilly hit the crossbar following a move down the byline. Southampton responded quickly after Fabio Sainsbury provided a cross that was narrowly missed by Daniels. Moments later, Sainsbury won possession high up the pitch and played a pass back to Daniels, who curled the ball into the net for the opening goal.

In the second half, Max Little and Lewis Bailey both had chances to increase the lead. Birmingham's Juran McKayle attempted a lob that was stopped by goalkeeper Dylan Moody. Southampton doubled their advantage just after the hour mark when Lewis Day met a Korban McMullan corner with a powerful header at the far post.

Daniels completed his brace with approximately 20 minutes remaining. McMullan drove into midfield and found Bailey, who sent a low cross into the area for Daniels to convert from close range. Lewis Bailey hit the crossbar late in the game, but the three-goal margin remained unchanged.
