Spain top Mediterranean Games 2026 boxing table ahead of Italy

Spain finished first in the Mediterranean Games 2026 boxing standings after collecting four gold medals and two silvers during five days of competition in Taranto. Hosts Italy also won four titles, but their three bronze medals left them second behind Spain.

Morocco took third place with two golds, one silver and three bronzes. France, Türkiye, Croatia and Kosovo also produced champions, while 14 gold-medal winners emerged from a field of 118 boxers.

Spain’s gold-medal haul included Enmanuel Reyes Pla’s victory in the men’s 90kg division. The Spanish boxer, who has Olympic and world championship bronze medals, defeated Serbia’s Marko Pizurica in the final.

Italy’s four titles included a home victory for Irma Testa in the women’s 57kg category. Testa, an Olympic bronze medallist and world champion, recovered after France’s Amina Zidani levelled the contest in the second round and finished strongly to take the deciding third.

Morocco’s Soulaimane Samghouli secured another of the event’s close finals by beating Algeria’s Ismali Bekhsis on a 3:2 split decision in the men’s 65kg class. Algeria had three finalists on the last day, but each ended with a silver medal.

The boxing programme ran from 22 to 27 August under World Boxing rules. It was the second 2026 multi-sport event to use those rules after the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with the Asian Games and Youth Olympic Games still scheduled to follow later in the year.
