Steve Claggett confirms Eye of the Tiger deal has come to an end

Steve Claggett is no longer under contract with Eye of the Tiger Management, bringing an end to a partnership that lasted more than five years and covered 16 professional fights. The Calgary boxer joined the Quebec-based organisation in September 2019.

Claggett leaves with a 13-3 record during that period, including 11 victories by knockout. Across his career, the 40-year-old holds a 40-9-2 record with 28 knockouts and became a popular figure among boxing fans in Quebec.

His run with Eye of the Tiger included notable contests against Junior Ulysse, David Theroux and Mathieu Germain. He also defeated top-10 contender Miguel Madueno in the main event of an Eye of the Tiger card at Casino de Montreal.

That performance saw Claggett land 512 punches over 10 rounds. It placed him among a small group of boxers to surpass that total in a 10-round contest since Compubox began recording punch statistics, with the feat having been achieved only four times.

Claggett held the WBO International title and the NABF super-lightweight belt before earning a world-title opportunity in June 2024. He went the distance over 12 rounds against then-champion Teofimo Lopez, one of the division’s most prominent names.

Eye of the Tiger president Camille Estephan said the organisation had decided against renewing the agreement while focusing on the long-term careers of its athletes. He also praised the work completed with Claggett and wished him success in the next stage of his career.

Claggett described his time with the organisation as some of the strongest years of his professional career. He said the team had shared major fights and reached the world-title level together, while expressing his gratitude and wishing Eye of the Tiger continued success. His latest fight ended with a third-round stoppage by unbeaten Adam Azim on May 30.
