Super Falcons goalkeeper Erhabor joins Crystal Palace Women in WSL

Nigeria goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor has completed a permanent move to Crystal Palace Women, signing a two-year contract with the newly promoted English Women’s Super League club. The 21-year-old joins on a free transfer after leaving Portsmouth, where she made six appearances in all competitions during the 2025/26 season.

The move gives Erhabor a place in a Crystal Palace squad preparing for life in the WSL after the club finished second in WSL 2 last season. Palace’s women will begin their campaign at home against Everton on Sunday. Erhabor’s arrival adds a young goalkeeper with senior experience to a team stepping up to England’s top women’s division.

Erhabor started her football development in the Brighton & Hove Albion academy. She later gained senior experience through loan spells at Hibernian and Plymouth Argyle before joining Portsmouth. Her six appearances for Portsmouth last season represented her first sustained involvement at senior club level, and the move to Palace provides a new opportunity in the WSL.

The goalkeeper was born in the Netherlands and raised in England, but her international career is with Nigeria. She made her Super Falcons debut in February, starting a friendly against Cameroon. That appearance came before her inclusion in Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Erhabor said the transfer marked an important stage in her development. “It feels really good to be here. I’m very excited to get started,” she said. “I’m aspiring to play at the highest level, so this is a really big step in my career.”

Palace manager Jo Potter also welcomed the goalkeeper to the club. “Comfort is a promising young goalkeeper, and we are thrilled to have her here at Palace,” Potter said. The two-year agreement gives Erhabor time to compete for opportunities while adapting to the demands of a higher level of domestic football.

The move should also be viewed separately from Crystal Palace’s men’s Premier League record. The club’s 2026 database record shows the men’s side in 16th place after one match, with no points from a 0-3-1 record and a 0-2 goal difference. Its listed recent results include a 3-0 defeat at Bromley, wins over Swindon Town and Rayo Vallecano, a 2-1 loss to Arsenal and a 2-2 draw at Brentford. The men’s next league fixture is away to Fulham on September 5, 2026.

For Erhabor, the immediate challenge is to establish herself in a Palace squad entering the WSL after promotion. Her route from Brighton’s academy through loans at Hibernian and Plymouth, followed by Portsmouth and international recognition, has brought her to a club competing at a higher level. Her Nigeria selection for the continental tournament further adds to the significance of a two-year deal that places her at the centre of Palace’s plans for their return to the top flight.
