Thomas Partey vows sacrifice for Al Shabab after 0-0 Saudi Pro League draw

Al Shabab opened their Saudi Pro League campaign with a 0-0 draw at Al Khaleej, as Thomas Partey began his spell with the club by making his debut. The Ghana midfielder has promised to make every effort for Al Shabab after entering the match as a second-half substitute.

Partey was introduced in the 58th minute at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium, replacing Ali Al Asmari. His arrival gave Al Shabab greater control in midfield, with his positioning and passing helping the visitors manage the game as both teams settled for a share of the points.

The appearance was Partey’s first since joining Al Shabab as a free agent following his departure from Spanish side Villarreal. The former Arsenal midfielder said he was pleased with the team’s performance, although he acknowledged that they had opportunities to score and could have taken all three points.

Partey also urged his new teammates to maintain their effort and focus on collecting more points in their next fixture. He said he was happy to be at the club and would give his full commitment to its cause, matching the sacrifice expected from him as he begins his Saudi Pro League career.

The draw gave Al Shabab their first point of the season after they began with a 3-1 home defeat against Al Qadsiah. Their early record now consists of one loss and one draw, leaving the side still looking for its first victory of the campaign.

Partey’s next opportunity to start will come when Al Shabab welcome Al Riyadh to the Al Shabab Club Stadium. The Ghana international, who is also the Black Stars’ deputy captain, will be pushing for a place in the starting team after contributing from the bench against Al Khaleej.
