Tim Bradley criticises Keyshawn Davis for declining Haney fight

Tim Bradley has criticised Keyshawn Davis for withdrawing from his mandatory WBO welterweight title fight against Devin Haney. Davis declined a multimillion-dollar purse following a purse bid process won by his promoter, Top Rank.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Bradley described the decision as a duck. He argued that Davis has not achieved enough in professional boxing to justify rejecting the financial offer. Bradley noted that while Davis possesses elite skills, his tenure as a champion was brief.

Davis previously held the WBO lightweight world title after a knockout victory over Denys Berinchyk. However, he lost that belt on the scales after failing to make weight before a scheduled defence against Edwin De Los Santos was cancelled. Following that period, Davis competed twice in the super-lightweight division against Jamaine Ortiz and Nahir Albright.

After announcing his intention to move up to the welterweight division to challenge Haney, Davis ultimately opted out of the sanctioned bout. Bradley questioned the logic of Davis backing out of the contest after the WBO had ordered the fight.

Devin Haney is expected to pursue other opportunities following the cancellation. The WBO champion is reportedly involved in discussions regarding a potential unification fight with the new IBF welterweight champion, Liam Paro.
