Tim Bradley suggests money, not fear, impacts Devin Haney fights

Tim Bradley believes that Devin Haney's boxing ability is intimidating potential opponents, though financial disagreements may be the actual cause of failed negotiations. Haney has struggled to secure a defense for his WBO welterweight title.

Recent attempts to organize a fight have fallen through. Keyshawn Davis declined to challenge Haney through the WBO mandatory process, and discussions with Liam Paro also failed to result in a contract. Bradley suggested on his YouTube channel that Haney's skills might be what spooks other fighters.

However, the financial aspects of these negotiations provide an alternative explanation. When fighters face a popular champion, they often seek high compensation. Keyshawn Davis reportedly wanted roughly $5 million to face Haney, but the WBO purse bid resulted in a much lower figure. Top Rank won the bid with $8.55 million, which would have allocated approximately $2.14 million to Davis.

If Davis expected $5 million, the actual payout would have been less than half of his requirement. This discrepancy likely made the bout less appealing. A similar situation may have applied to Liam Paro, who might have set a price for the fight that Haney's team was unwilling to meet.

There is a distinction between avoiding a fighter and refusing a specific payday. While Bradley views the situation as fighters running from Haney's technical skills, the failed deals may simply be a matter of fighters demanding high fees to face a major star.
