Uganda Baby Cricket Cranes defeat Mozambique in Division 2 Qualifiers
Robert Owili scored 132 as Uganda secured a dominant victory over Mozambique to keep their Division 1 promotion hopes alive in Kigali.
Uganda's Baby Cricket Cranes secured their second victory of the Division 2 Qualifiers with a massive win over Mozambique. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Uganda posted a total of 413 runs, surpassing the 414 benchmark set by Rwanda earlier in the tournament.
Robert Owili led the Ugandan batting performance with a century, scoring 132 runs. His innings included 15 boundaries and three sixes. Sam Ahaisibwe provided significant support with 77 runs, while Abraiz Ali contributed 34 before being run out. Larry Itagi added 28 and Richard Sohera scored 32 to help the team exceed the 400-run mark.
Mozambique struggled significantly during the run chase, failing to reach even 30 runs. The team was dismissed for just 26. Richard Sohera and Hamidu Munigwa were the most effective bowlers, with both players taking four wickets during the innings.
This result marks the second win for the Baby Cricket Cranes in the tournament. With three matches remaining, the team needs one more victory to secure a top-three finish. Achieving a top-three position will grant Uganda promotion to Division 1.
Uganda will not play on Tuesday and will return to competition on Wednesday against Ghana.
