Victor Osimhen rejects Galatasaray number nine shirt

The Nigerian striker explained his decision to keep wearing number 45 at Galatasaray despite speculation that he would inherit the number nine.

Victor Osimhen has decided to continue wearing the number 45 shirt at Galatasaray. The striker declined to take the number nine jersey following the departure of Mauro Icardi.

Speaking via the Turkish outlet Sabah, the Super Eagles forward explained that the number 45 has brought him good fortune since he arrived at Rams Park. While he acknowledged that the club might sell more shirts with a number nine, he expressed a desire to stick with the number he has used during his time with the Turkish champions.

Osimhen made his move to the Istanbul club permanent last summer after a successful loan spell. He has since become a key player for the team, maintaining high levels of performance. He recently scored in Galatasaray's 3-3 preseason draw against Rennes in Istanbul.

His recent form has led to interest from several major European clubs. Tottenham is among the teams linked with a potential move for the striker this summer.

As the new season begins, Osimhen aims to maintain his momentum with the reigning Turkish champions. He remains one of the most prominent strikers in world football.
