Vipers SC and Kitara FC learn CAF competition opponents
Ugandan sides Vipers SC and Kitara FC have been drawn against FC Nouadhibou and Mogadishu CC respectively in the CAF preliminary rounds.
Uganda's representatives for the 2026/27 CAF interclub competitions have been assigned their preliminary round opponents. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted the draws in Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday, 6 August 2026.
Vipers SC, the Uganda Premier League champions, will enter the CAF Champions League. They are scheduled to face Mauritania's FC Nouadhibou in the first preliminary round. If Vipers SC advance, they will meet the winner of the tie between Rivers United of Nigeria and San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire in the second preliminary round.
Kitara FC, the winners of the Uganda Cup, will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup. Their first preliminary round opponent will be Mogadishu CC from Somalia. A victory in this round would set up a second preliminary round match against Al Ahly, who received a bye into that stage.
The first legs for the opening round of both competitions are set to take place between 4 and 6 September. The return fixtures will follow from 11 to 13 September.
Matches in the second preliminary round are scheduled for 16–18 October, with the second legs occurring between 23 and 25 October. Winners of these second-round ties will secure places in the group stages of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
